Alexis Rodriguez has more than 13 years’ experience in public relations and brand development within the beauty and fashion industries combined. She began her career with DNA Public Relations, where she cultivated a love and passion for the beauty industry. Two years later, Rodriguez joined a global brand team at Ketchum Public Relations, expanding her client base from beauty to consumer, lifestyle, food, and healthcare. Rodriguez left Ketchum in 2002 to join Tractenberg & Co. where she worked with a number of well-known beauty brands including Stila, Sephora, MD Skincare, and Kate Spade Beauty.
In 2003, Rodriguez was hired as the in-house PR Manager to launch Diane von Furstenberg Beauty, the fashion designer’s return to the beauty arena. Two years later, she was promoted to Director of Public Relations, overseeing global communications in 12 countries including the US, UK, Italy, France, Asia, and Russia.
After five years at DVF, Rodriguez moved in-house to LVMH, Inc. to oversee PR in North America for Parfums Givenchy and Pucci Fragrance. For Givenchy, Rodriguez spearheaded the largest men’s fragrance PR launch in the history of the brand, working directly with “Play” spokesperson Justin Timberlake and his team to secure the most press the brand has ever garnered at launch.
Currently, Rodriguez is the Executive Director of Public Relations for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, overseeing the implementation and execution of PR initiatives in North America on behalf of Bobbi Brown, the woman and the brand.
Rodriguez has spent many years developing relationships with key beauty, fashion and lifestyle editors and stylists. Her ability to maintain strong working relationships in both industries has led to coverage for clients in top media outlets including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, In Style, Glamour, W, The New York Times, WWD, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Style.com, and on national broadcast shows including The Today Show, Live with Regis & Kelly, Dr. Oz, Good Morning America and Oprah.
For over 13 years, Carter-Thompson has worked as a public relations professional within lifestyle and consumer industries, including beauty, wellness, fashion and beauty. Her highly creative and strategic acumen has led to the success of many PR and marketing campaigns for brands such as Avon, Sephora, Carol’s Daughter, Josie Maran and Bath & Body Works.
Carter-Thompson began her career at The Fragrance Foundation, disseminating communications programs to the fragrance industry at-large, in addition to spearheading awareness for the annual FiFi Awards. From there, Carter-Thompson moved into the PR team at beauty giant Estee Lauder, where she played a key role in the launch of several skincare, fragrance and color collections. At Lauder, she also helped oversee spokesperson activations and fashion collaborations. In 2001, Carter-Thompson left Lauder for the agency world to join Tractenberg & Co., where she worked with a host of beauty brands, including Carol’s Daughter, The Healing Garden, Dr. Brandt Skincare, Jergens and Sephora. From there, Carter-Thompson moved to global beauty agency DeVries PR and became part of the award-winning Procter & Gamble PR team as a senior leader on the Olay account.
Soon after a period as a beauty PR consultant, Carter-Thompson was hired by Essie Cosmetics as the Assistant Vice President of Global Public Relations. At Essie, Carter-Thompson worked with the founder, Essie Weingarten, to build and promote the coveted nail brand by creating unique partnerships and launching the brand into social media for the first time.
Carter-Thompson’s passion for beauty communications is evident in her work philosophy – deliver campaigns that create lasting connections with consumers, brand owners, media and influencers through creativity, collaboration and inter-connected strategies in media relations, events, retail integration, cause marketing, social media and influencer outreach.
Currently, Carter-Thompson is Vice President of the beauty and wellness practice group at Allison+Partners, executing multi-level global campaigns and generating business-moving results for clients such as ARTISTRY, Joico, Julep Nail, The Vitamin Shoppe, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, philosophy, and L'Oreal USA.
Her long-standing editor relationships have allowed her to gain a true understanding of the ever-changing media landscape, and she continues to garner features in major outlets, such as Women’s Wear Daily, the New York Times, Inc., Vogue, Allure, Elle, Glamour and W, in addition to Oprah, The TODAY Show, Good Morning America and Fox Business News.
